Dermaplaning
WHAT IS IT?
Dermaplaning is a highly effective manual exfoliation technique utilizing a stainless steel surgical tool to gently remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, also known as “peach fuzz”. Other benefits include the diminished appearance of dry fine lines and improved skin texture. It increases the absorption of skin care products, provides an instantly glowing skin and speeds up new healthy cell production. The vellus hairs on the face won’t grow back thicker or darker, and over time might even appear finer with repeat treatments. It could be used as an alternative to microdermabrasion, as it safely lifts off the top layer of skin. It is therefore well suited to sensitive and drier skin types.
Contraindications to Dermaplaning include numerous raised lesions on the skin, inflamed acne or extremely oily skin.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Dermaplaning removes about 3 weeks worth of dead skin cells and it’s therefore best to wait at least 4 weeks or longer between treatments. The process lasts about 45minutes. Dermaplaning treatments are perfect treatments on their own,
or as an add-on to any medical facial or chemical peel.
