Lash Extensions

WHO DOES YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS?

Lash extensions are done by Celene Crofton

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

The extensions are synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are available in varying lengths and thickness. Applied to your individual eyelashes, there is no need for mascara, even though a water-based mascara is fine to use.

HOW LONG DO THEY LAST

The extensions are safe in the shower, while swimming, sleeping or exercising. With proper care and touch-up visits, your eyelash extensions can last a very long time. Normally a persons eyelash falls out every 60-90 days and a new one grows immediately. Therefore, it is necessary to get touch-ups to fill in the fallen lashes. About every 2 – 3 weeks is recommended; however, this will vary from person to person. Clients have had their lashes for over a year with regular touch-up visits.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

The day of the appointment

Arrive without any eye make up, definitely no eye make up as mascara or eye shadows (you can have brow makeup or foundation, but leave eye area make up-free). Do not put any oils or creams on or around your eyes on the day of your appointment. Also do not perm or curl your eyelashes before your first eyelash extension appointment.

The next step is consultation:

During this consultation, we determine your expectations and get to know you so we can understand what type of look you are going for and assess what condition is your natural lash is in.  We always do a consultation so our clients can understand what kind of length and curl will suit them the most. We also help you choose the right type of eyelash extensions that are best for you so that your natural lashes stay healthy.

After your visit

You will be given an aftercare sheet. Most importantly, do not wet your eyelashes (this includes; steam rooms, working out, and showering) for at least 24-48 hours to allow the adhesive to properly bond (please see the aftercare page). We recommend using our Lashpoo ($25) or use a oil-free face cleanser.  Also try not to pull our or rub your new eyelashes!

Now you are ready to go on your first eyelash extensions appointment!

AFTER CARE

  • The 24hrs following the application of eyelash extensions is critical to their longevity. Although your eyelashes are dry when you leave us, the glue is not cured so you must avoid water for 24hrs.

  • When washing your face/showering during this time frame: avoid water coming into contact with the eye area.  Allowing your extensions to become wet during this initial phase could potentially cause irritation, it’s extremely rare but do not risk it. The final reason is water could allow the extension to move from its perfect placement!  So wash your hair (if you need to) before your appointment and be careful when cleansing your face.

  • Sauna/Steam/Bikram/Pools do need to be avoided for 48hrs. This is for safety reasons as well as longevity of application so please adhere to this.

  • When cleansing please do not let cotton anywhere near them, it will hook onto the base of the lash and tear it free: face wipes, cotton pads and flannels should be avoided. Simply use an oil free, gentle cleanser or baby shampoo and lightly massage the make up away with your eye closed. Splash some water and then pat (don’t rub) dry with a towel underneath your eyes.

  • Give your extensions a thorough clean every day: Using an oil free cleanser or baby shampoo lightly massage at the base of extensions and along the eyelid. Splash with plenty of water and very carefully pat dry. This is a very important part of your eyelash-extension aftercare so don’t skip it! Some people are under the impression then should be left alone but this is not the case. You’ll find this method removes eye shadow and eyeliner in a flash.  We sell an organic LashPoo (please ask a technician, $25/bottle)

  • Golden rule: DON’T PLAY with them: Especially in the 24hrs. I know it’s tempting, they’re new, shiny and soft and you want to touch them BUT, you can look but you cannot touch. Too much touching may result in damage to your natural lashes, we take every possible care to keep your lashes looking healthy. Our goal is for your own eyelashes to be healthier for wearing extensions.

  • We provide you with a comb to brush them out: Just brush the tips if you feel they need it, don’t go to the base as you risk unhooking that seamless bond we’ve spent ages perfecting. Following exposure to a lot of water i.e shower or swimming your lashes may need a quick comb. They dry quickly but if you wish to speed up the process you can dry them with your hair dryer on the cool option. Use the lowest power setting.

  • Please don’t use mascara on your extensions: Your extensions are designed to look long and natural without clumps or smudges. It will also mean we can’t rebalance your extensions and they will shed very quickly.

  • This may sound like a lot of work but you’ll actually find your new eyelashes save you so much time!

  • Once you’ve gone through the eyelash extension aftercare routine once you’ll see how easy it is to enjoy (and protect) your eyelashes.
